How Do I Get Comfortable Showing My Face on Camera?
You want to connect with your audience, you know you have stories to tell, but you’re in your head about getting on camera? You aren't alone!
We hear it all the time. "How do I confidently show up on camera?"
We not only have filmed all kinds of founders and their stories through our content days, but we are also in front of the camera frequently. So, we have a lot of tips in this department.
Here's how you can get comfortable in front of the camera for social media content.
How To Get Comfortable Showing Your Face on Camera
Start Small and Simple
You don’t have to dive straight into a polished, fully-scripted video. Start with baby steps, always! Try a 15-second video on your phone.
Try a Topic Instead of a Script
Take yourself back to your college speaking class. They used to tell all of us not to make our PowerPoint full sentences, right? Because we aren't all actors who are meant for memorizing lines. Instead, write down a few bullet points or just give yourself a general topic to chat about instead.
Uses Notes or Prompts
A sticky note nearby or get a teleprompter app so you can have your notes close to refer to.
Let Someone Else Edit It
The worst part about filming yourself is having to watch it back! We are all a little critical of ourselves, so leave the editing to someone else. In our On-Call Service, you can hire us on retainer for tasks like these!
Remember That It Doesn't Need to Be Perfect!
Social media doesn't have to be perfectly polished; in fact, a lot of audiences prefer more casual, authentic content anyway. There's no pressure to make polished content, and even if you mess up that' what they make editing tools for.
