What’s a Content Day and Why Do You Need One?

What’s a content day?

A content day is usually a few hours or a full day, where you batch-create high-quality photos, videos, and other marketing content for your business. Think behind-the-scenes reels, updated photography, tutorials, and product or service highlights.

Why Does Your Business Need a Content Day?

  • Consistency: Consistency is everything when it comes to posting on social media. You don’t want to be the account that posts every day for a week, three-week gap, and then posts every day again. Why? Your audience will disassociate, and the algorithm will not be happy with you. Having a content day gives you an entire batch of content to use over time that you can create into a consistent schedule.

  • “Sticky” Marketing: As we like to call it! What makes your brand attract your audience? We’ll give you a hint, it’s not off-brand content or reshares. It’s custom-crafted content that FITS like that last puzzle piece your brand needs.

  • Time: Content days might seem like they take up a lot of your time, but trust us, it’s actually saving you SO MUCH TIME. Filming a few videos here and there can take forever with each brainstorm, set-up, filming, and take-down process. Instead, you can batch months’ worth at the same time, and no one will suspect a thing if you do it right!

How To Plan Your Own Content Day

Get Clear on Priorities and Goals

Are you launching something? Promoting a service? Building brand awareness? Knowing this helps guide the types of content you’ll shoot.

Create a Shot List

List out:

  1. Types of content (photos, reels, testimonials, etc.)

  2. Specific scenes or setups you want

  3. Key messaging or calls to action

It can be helpful to go back to your content pillars and use these as a guide to create your content.

Choose a Location (or two)

Whether it’s your studio, office, home, or an on-brand Peerspace. Location plays a huge role in your content’s vibe. Consider lighting, aesthetics, and variety, and ensure it aligns well with your brand.

Prep Your Props, Outfits & Team

Plan your outfits ahead of time, and make them on brand. Bring props that help tell your story (laptop, coffee mug, tools of your trade). If you’re involving your team or models, make sure everyone knows what to expect, where to be, and what to wear. Ensure that you map out which props, outfits, and team members go with which content shot.

Hire the Right Help

You can DIY it… But many businesses find it’s more effective (and enjoyable) to hire a team to direct, shoot, and organize the day!
