How to Use Your Branding on Social Media (the Right Way!)
Your branding is not just another thing to check off as a business owner. Your branding guidelines should be a reference point consistently for you, through all your marketing channels, and especially, social media.
We aren't saying you need to be the brand with one on-brand graphic that takes up your entire Instagram grid to create an overwhelming wall of your brand colors, or use your logo in every post. Because branding isn't about logos and colors, it's more than that. Instead, think about what your brand means on a deeper level and how you carry this out in everything you do, from copywriting in captions to the photos featured on your page.
The goal is to have people stop scrolling through their feed and recognize your content the minute it pops up because your branding is THAT consistent. That's how you create brand recognition and a community of loyal fans.
Here's how to make that happen:
How to Use Your Branding on Social Media (the Right Way!)
Graphics
You don't have to use the same boring graphic template over and over again for people to recognize it's your brand in their feed. Instead, focus on consistency with your brand colors, fonts, and overall style. Whether it's a story, static post, or carousel, it should all be connected and fit together like a puzzle. Use similar patterns, elements, and ascents to make your graphics feel cohesive, without the copy + paste button.
Photography
Photos tell a story! Your brand photography should carry out your branding just the same as your graphics do. Do light and bright match your branding? Bold and moody? Colorful and fun? Every piece of your image, from the lighting to the tone, matters and should carry out your branding even more.
Pro tip: try to use similar setups if you're filming yourself — lighting, backdrops, outfits, etc. and try to stick to a consistent editing style or color tone so everything flows together. If you're using a photographer, try to find one that you LOVE and can work with consistently.
Brand Voice
Last but not least, your brand voice. Your social media strategy needs to outline your brand voice so you know exactly what to say in your captions, and when replying to comments, too, so your audience can get to know the brand personality, recognize it, and connect with it.
Ask yourself, if someone looked at your Instagram page right now, would they recognize your brand?
