Using The Word "Just" As a Social Media Manager

Raise your hand if you've ever downplayed the work you do as a social media manager...

If you ever wonder WHY we love our community of social media managers and coaching social media managers, it's this: we are one of you! This means we go through the same struggles, the same highs & lows, and the SAME imposter syndrome. You better believe we are raising our hands high when it comes to downplaying the work we've done.

It seems so natural for phrases like...

"I'm just a social media manager."

"I just do organic social media."

"I'm just starting out in social media management."

It might seem like just a word, pun intended. But this word is diminishing you - to potential clients and in your own head.

What do I do then, throw "just" out of my vocabulary? No! Instead, let's shift how you are using the word.

On the flip side, the word "just" is a powerful copywriting tool...when you use it in all the right ways! Think about your life as a consumer, some words will always stick out to you whether you realize it or not. Think about the way your eyes light up a bit more when you see phrases like, "BOGO," "Sale," "Only," or "Offer Expiring Soon." These phrases not only can create a sense of interest, but they can peek interest. This applies way beyond the clothing rack in your favorite store, babe!

This can apply to your social media management business and specifically the way you talk about your offer.

Instead of using "just" to describe yourself, use it to make your services and offer less intimidating. Check out these examples:

  1. Are you ready to hop on a discovery call? It just takes 30 minutes!

  2. You can get all these services for just $X per month.

  3. Our content days deliver X deliverables, with just $X.

This can go well beyond "just," too. Think about adding more words like this to your discovery calls, sales copy, and speech, such as "Only," and "Starting At," too.

It's important to note that these words aren't to trick your audience/potential customers, but rather make them feel more comfortable!
