Instagram Highlights that Actually Attract Your Audience

Instagram Highlights are nothing new on Instagram, but let's not forget that they are precious real estate on your Instagram page! When a viewer clicks on your profile, highlights are the second visual element that their eyes can be directed to behind your profile photo.

They are likely a highly-viewed spot for users, especially when you take the time to curate attention-grabbing titles, images, and content inside of them. We don't want 30 slides of your customer reviews, instead, let's discuss what your audience might actually want to see on your Instagram highlights.

Instagram Highlights that Actually Attract Your Audience

Your Story

The founder's story, your why, and other company stories can be a great way to introduce your audience to your brand, but more so, get them to connect and continue tapping through! Your story sells itself, make it personal, make it intentional — it's such a great way to connect with your audience.

Seasonal or Themed Highlights

Organize your highlights based on seasons. This makes it feel new and fun, and super relevant for your audience to what's on their mind and happening around them.

Limited-Time Promotions Or New Products

If you run special offers or discounts, make a highlight dedicated to them. It’s a great way to make sure that even after your promotion ends, potential customers can still see what they missed and create that sense of exclusivity.

Community

Showcase that UGC — we are in the era of influencing after all! Let your audience know how other customers are using it, and why they should run to the store (in person or virtually) to grab it for themselves.

FAQs

In the early stages of learning about a product, we likely all have questions! And, people love quick, digestible information. Use highlights to answer common questions about your products or services to get those questions or hesitations out right away.

Tips for Better Instagram Highlights:

→ Short & Simple

The titles, the amount of highlights, the number of stories inside your highlights — keep it simple! Have you ever opened a highlight with a million slides and couldn't get to the end with the newer details? Don't be that brand.

→ Updated

Those stories from three years ago have to go. We want new, fresh information that keeps us coming back to your highlights!

→ Don't overthink it

Think about the core aspects of your brand. What do people want to know more about, what questions do they have? It's likely that new followers or people considering followers are going to be the primary ones looking through your highlights, so think about what they might want to know, learn, and view the most.

→ Don't be salesy

We don't want to see five slides of straight promotional content. We want to see the life behind your brand! We WANT to want to continue swiping through. So, if you fill that section with promotional content only, I'm not going to want to keep viewing it.

Now, on to revamping those highlights! We hope this helps. Remember to be intentional and choose what your audience will love to consume on their end!
