Sensory Marketing Series: Sound
You know when your favorite boutique is playing the soundtrack you're obsessed with, you want to stay just a little longer, and you usually end up with a few other items in your hand because of it? Yeah, sound is powerful.
Not only is it memorable, but songs can evoke emotions. Let's jump in a few of our favorite examples of this.
Mastercard
When you check out using your MasterCard, when you hear the commercials, when you open the app, you might notice a familiar sound. MasterCard's jingle is notable, and could even be creating a subliminal effect on you and your purchasing habits!
Coca-Cola
You know when their ads pop up on the screen with their bubbling soda, and the crack of a can pop-top. They make you crave opening one for yourself at home, just by some simple sound effects.
Netflix
Netflix's “ta-dum" when you open an app makes you want to break out the popcorn. Everyone in the house can run to the living room when they hear because they know it's binge-time! This is the perfect example that it doesn't need to be a full-on jingle, just a quick sound effect that's unique and memorable.
How to Tap into this Sense:
Create a jingle
On your ads, commercials, or in-store, create a sound effect that makes people instantly think of your brand when they hear it.

Sensory marketing all goes back to giving the customers an experience to make them get a better idea of the product or brand as a whole, so ensure you are being intentional with what you're playing for your customers to connect and recognize.
The final part of this series is up next, stay tuned.
